Deducting from the prison offences of January the 877 cases of mutineers, the number of offences for the two months would be 477 and 287, which I submit shows that the punishment inflicted on the mutineers has had a most salutary effect on the rest of the prisoners.
2. The number of prisoners confined on Monday last was 557. It may be remembered that in June last I reported the number then confined to be 710 :
